The Belle Center's Embedded Early Childhood
Program is partnership program where children with and without special needs learn and play together. Based at three early childhood programs in St. Louis; University City Children's Center,South Side Day Nursery, and the Jewish Community Center. The Belle Center's program includes individualized education and therapies provided within a regular classroom setting.
Founded in 1984, our preschool program is the Midwest's first full inclusion preschool where children with and without special needs participate in all activities together.
We support children between birth to 6 years.
The program prepares children of all abilities to enter the kindergarten of their choice with appropriate supports.
Our teachers foster an environment where children with and without disabilities and developmental delays learn and play together, care about each other and enrich each other’s lives.
Our preschool program helps children with disabilities and developmental delays to learn social and academic skills from their typically developing peers.
The Belle Center's full inclusion program encourages children without special needs to learn compassion and respect for people of all abilities.
The Center provides extensive consultative supports to the teachers, staff and administrators at each of our embedded early learning program sites.
